Watch a recording of the first Hamilton Harbour Deep Dive webinar presented by the HHRAP and hosted by Conservation Halton on December 5, 2024.
Webinar 1: We Are Still Here—the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation
Featured Guest Speaker: Darin Wybenga
When the Mississaugas of the Credit arrived at the western end of Lake Ontario at the end the 17th century, their territory consisted of four million acres of lands, waters and resources. This webinar will speak to the Mississaugas’ connection to the lands and waters in the Hamilton area and the treaty relationship between the land and the people.
The Hamilton Harbour Remedial Action Plan (HHRAP) is a formal process that guides the clean up of the Hamilton Harbour Area of Concern (AOC) through the identification and implementation of remedial actions to address environmental issues resulting from historical human activities in the area.
The Canada Water Agency and the Ontario Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks coordinate the implementation of the HHRAP with the support of partners on the Bay Area Implementation Team (BAIT). Local coordination of the HHRAP is provided by Conservation Halton.
