Location: Hamilton Farmers’ Market
Discover Hamilton Harbour through the eyes of local residents. This photography exhibit, Picturing Place, invites you into the personal perspectives of local residents as they explore and express their connections to Hamilton Harbour. Through photography and storytelling, participants can reflect on the harbour’s past, present, and imagined future—revealing a layered landscape of memory, meaning, and possibility. At the heart of these images are the voices of a community and its evolving relationship with the harbour it calls home.
Join us for a kick-off event on Saturday, May 24 from 10 am to noon for a celebration of Hamilton Harbour with the photographers. The exhibit runs during market hours until June 25.
This exhibit is part of a research project conducted through the University of Waterloo’s School of Environment, Resources & Sustainability, in partnership with Conservation Halton. It is supported by a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council Insight Development Grant granted to Dr. Rob de Loe.

The Hamilton Harbour Remedial Action Plan (HHRAP) is a formal process that guides the clean up of the Hamilton Harbour Area of Concern (AOC) through the identification and implementation of remedial actions to address environmental issues resulting from historical human activities in the area.
The Canada Water Agency and the Ontario Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks coordinate the implementation of the HHRAP with the support of partners on the Bay Area Implementation Team (BAIT). Local coordination of the HHRAP is provided by Conservation Halton.
